Introducing the Union of Concerned Scientists

Leah Baxter
Leah Baxter, Senior Experience Designer

This week, one of the hydrologists at the Bureau of Meteorology introduced me to an uplifting collective of humans, the Union of Concerned Scientists.

We’ve been working closely with the Bureau’s team on a bunch of water related projects. It’s hard not to feel disheartened and terrified by the climate projections we’ve come across, which show the grim reality of the changes to come.

So, when I heard about these individuals who have come together to develop practical solutions to some of the world’s most pressing problems, I thought it was worth celebrating and sharing.

Over the last 50 years they have exposed misinformation and media bias, won international protections to preserve the world’s rainforests and revealed climate deception at Exxonmobil, to name a few of their many achievements.

Here’s hoping in another 50 years they’ll be able to change their name to the Union of Surprisingly Relieved Scientists.
