“I was in charge of the deck chairs on the Titanic, and they absolutely did need rearranging”

I have a bit of a fondness for all kinds of history along with big budget, blockbuster films, so it should come as no surprise when I tell you all that the Titanic places very highly on my list of favourite topics.

When I came across this article I was excited to read about the person responsible for arranging the deckchairs aboard the doomed cruise liner. Instead, I found an article that starts out as satire and ends up as an earnest, sweet ode to doing something small with dignity and pride, however meaningless it might seem in the scale of larger events.
“Your efforts matter as much as they always did, which is to say not one little tiny bit, except that they are the most precious of things – they are your heart. Take care of your heart, my friends.”

This piece gave me sparks of hope to help me navigate the ordinary, daily tasks that seem overwhelming due to our current global situation.
